Antimicrobial-resistant (AMR) is a rising threat in Pakistan that needs urgent management strategies. An awareness walk was arranged by the Ministry of National Health Services in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday.
Prof. Dr. Aamer Ikram (The Executive Director of the National Institute of Health) addressed with participants of awareness walk, about the threat of antibiotic resistance.
Professionals from the Ministry of National Health, representatives from the different private sectors including hospitals, pharmacies, students, and media also participated in this awareness walk.
The aim of the event was to develop awareness about threats of misuse or overuse of antibiotics that cause antimicrobial resistance in humans and animals.
An individual should avoid self-medication, go for vaccination to avoid infections and always get proper prescription for antibiotic use.
